Listen to Blues Music On Your IPod or Mp3 Player

By Reverend Keith A. Gordon, About.com

IPods and other portable .Mp3 players are fast becoming the way to listen to music and podcasting is a new way to listen to radio.
  • Podcasting involves downloading an .Mp3 file of an entire radio show then uploading it to your IPod. Using RSS, the same internet system for blogs, podcasting sites keep fans updated with the latest shows.
There are basically two ways to download podcasts, manually and automatically.
  • Manually:
Some podcasting sites offer a direct link where the .mp3 file can be downloaded to your IPod program. Just click on the link and save the file to your computer.
  • Automatically:
Add-on software is required to subscribe to podcasting sites. Once subscribed, the software automatically checks for new podcasts and downloads them straight to your IPod software. These programs can be a bit confusing. Once you have subscribed, you will see a list of past shows available to download. The software also searches for new podcasts on your subscription list and automatically downloads them. If your IPod is configured to automatically update, the new shows will appear on your player.

At this time, because of licensing questions, podcasting is still feeling it's way into Internet culture. Expect independent artists to dominate podcasting until this is settled.

Groovy podcasting!
