Delta Blues First Recording Star:
Mississippi born Nehemiah Curtis "Skip" James was probably the first Delta Blues artist to take his guitar out of the juke joint and put it on a record. His high tenor voice along with quirky guitar tunings create haunting grooves that are almost impossible to imitate. He enjoyed a revival in the 1960's until his passing in 1969.
