Tennessee-born Johnny Ned Shines grew up in the Mississippi Delta area and developed his own vocal and slide guitar style along with an uncompromising conscience. Known to speak out on social issues and take political stands, his checkered career spanned from the 1920's until the 1990's. He passed in 1992.
