Blind Lemon Jefferson

By Reverend Keith A. Gordon, About.com

Texas Country Blues Pioneer:

Blind Lemon Jefferson sang and played guitar from Texas to Chicago in the 1920's. His rhythmic guitar style, from his Texas connection with Mexican music, made him arguably the first male Blues recording star. For a time he was traveling and performing with Leadbelly. His mournful high voice and physical condition made for the ultimate Blues life. Blind Lemon passed in 1929.
