Definition: p]Led Zeppelin: British blues-rock band fronted by vocalist Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page and including bassist John Paul Jones and John "Bonzo" Bonham, Led Zeppelin's early sound was heavily influenced by American blues artists like Willie Dixon and Howlin' Wolf. Originally formed in 1968 by Page as the "New Yardbirds" when the Yardbirds imploded, leaving the guitarist as the last man standing, during the 1970s Led Zeppelin would become the most commercially-successful band of the decade on the basis of a string of hit albums and songs like "Whole Lotta Love," "Immigrant Song" and "Stairway To Heaven."
