Definition:

Delmark Records: Legendary jazz and blues label formed by Bob Koester in 1953. Through the years, the label has released essential blues from artists like Junior Wells, Carey Bell, Magic Sam, Sleepy John Estes, and Otis Rush, among many others.

Koester is also the owner of The Jazz Record Mart store in Chicago. Delmark Records has served as a sort of graduate school for future label entrepreneurs, as Bruce Iglauer (Alligator Records), Michael Frank (Earwig Records), Bruce Kaplan (Flying Fish Records), and Jim O'Neal (Rooster Records) all worked for Delmark and/or The Jazz Record Mart.

Recommended Albums: Throughout the years, Delmark has released dozens of essential, influential blues albums, but the live Junior Wells' set, Hoodoo Man Blues, is one of the best of the blues.
