Jazzfest 2000
New Orleans is home to some of the world's coolest music.

Yea You Right!
Jazzfest 2000 is in the books in the Crescent City.
It says Jazz, but the Blues were a big part of the festival. And they had some great Blues this year. Here's some pics from the fest.

"Sacred Steel"

"Sacred Steel" caught my eye on the House of Blues stage because of the unusual instrumentation. A lap-steel guitar and a pedal-steel guitar are not usually seen on a Blues bandstand. But this was as real as it gets.

Bernard Allison

The Allison's family tradition was well represented at Jazzfest by Luther's son Bernard. Great guitar work, fine vocals and a great on-stage personality made this a memorable show. As music blasted from the other stages around him, Bernard had the groove down to a whisper while stealing the crowd's rapt attention . The crowd soon swelled and Bernard powered out the set to an appreciative mob.

Daddy must always be smilin' down on him.

Joe Louis Walker

The Bosstalkers were in the house in New Orleans. An incredibly tight rhythm section and tasty guitar work made a crowd gather in no time flat. The funk was on the table, and Joe Louis and the fellas were funking as good as anyone on Saturday.

Corey Harris

His new release with New Orleans piano great Henry Butler is climbing the charts. Corey brought his unique vision of the Blues to the House of Blues stage. Proving you don't need electric instruments and giant PA to dig a groove.
