Chicago Blues Fest 2002
A great Blues Festival combines old and new, young and old, rich and poor, a sense of history and a eye on the future. Literally hundreds of festivals will take place this summer all over the world. Here are ten of the best.

1) Chicago Blues Fest 2002

This summer's top pick goes out to the annual bash in Grant Park. As the motherland of modern electric Blues, Chicago is the Blues Bomb! In this era of $30 ticket prices, this party is still free. Tons of Blues around town after the fest.

2) New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival

With the addition on the giant Blues Tent this year, the Blues have come together in the Big Easy for probably the finest lineup of the year. The greatest annual live music event in the world is not strictly about Blues, but showcases this groovy genre as truly the peoples music.

3) The San Francisco Blues Festival

This year is the 30th birthday of this west coast bash.

4) King Biscuit Blues Festival

Helena, Arkansas hosts the annual pilgrimage to the Blues holy land.

5) Ottawa Bluesfest

A new-comer on the Blues scene, this party has grown into a two week extravaganza that rivals any music festival on earth.

6) Beale Street Music Festival

The Blues-iest street in the Blues-iest city.

7) Waterfront Blues Festival

Portland, Oregon has been Bluesfesting for 15 years.

8) Bayfront Blues Festival

Duluth, Minnesota rolls out the red carpet to the Blues world, and the whole town gets in the act.

9) Bull Durham Blues Festival

The granddaddy of east coast festivals.

10) Notodden Blues Festival

The only international pick is this annual Norwegian homage to the Blues.
