Guide Review - Sonny Landreth - The Road Were On
The Louisiana/Mississippi Delta has never had a problem producing groovy Blues artists. The Delta went one step further when she created Sonny Landreth. This slide guitar master has carved out a refreshingly unique style combining bayou grooves with incomprehensible chops and decent songwriting. "Natural World" is my favorite cut. Combining Delta frontporch rhythm with AC/DC guitar crunch. "Gemini Blues" shuffles with with 12 bar familiarity, yet refreshingly quirky. His first and last cut are acoustic grooves that leave no doubt from where he's come. While most guitarists take the Blues and go out from there, Landreth's guitar work takes the Blues and heads in. He is mining new Blues guitar gold.
