Robin Trower Talks About The Blues
Robin Trower is best known for both his work with 1960s-era British rockers Procol Harum, as well as his groundbreaking 1970s solo albums. Trower's best work during the decade mixed Hendrix-inspired leads with psychedelic-tinted blues and hard rock rhythms.
What a lot of people don't know is that since Trower dropped off the pop culture radar during the early-1980s, the guitarist has pursued his love of the blues with a series of critically-acclaimed album releases. The recently-released Seven Moons is Trower's third blues-rock collaboration with former Cream bassist Jack Bruce, and their first work together in 25 years.
This recent Trower interview with Modern Guitars magazine, found on their website, starts off with a lot of six-string tech-talk, but enters into interesting territory as the musician discusses the influence of Hendrix, James Brown, and B.B. King and Trower's love of blues music. It's well worth reading for any fan of classic rock, the blues, and/or blues-rock.
