Downloading The Blues

Wednesday March 26, 2008

Although download services such as iTunes or eMusic offer a fair selection of blues music, the newly-launched HD Tracks offers high-definition digital tracks for your iPod or mp3 player. The new service offers songs in CD-quality lossless FLAC and uncompressed AIFF file formats for greater fidelity.

For those folks preferring garden-variety mp3 files, HD Tracks offers high-resolution 320kps files, compared with the 128kps or 192kps files that are standard on many services.

You'll find a fine selection of blues from the good folks at Alligator Records, Blind Pig, Evidence, Revenant, and Vanguard Records among the blues-oriented labels represented on HD Tracks.

Among the blues artists discovered by looking through the site's diverse selection: Johnny Winter, Elvin Bishop, Charlie Musselwhite, Buddy Guy, Hound Dog Taylor and many others. Check out the HD Tracks website for more details.
