Follow me on:

Chicago blues guitarist Buddy GuyThe fabled Experience Hendrix Tour hits the road again in March 2014, this eighth edition of the rolling celebration of the life and music of guitarist Jimi Hendrix promising more thrills and chills than the seven previous tours combined! Sponsored by BandFuse: Rock Legends and kicking off on March 11, 2014 in Grand Prairie, Texas this version of the Experience Hendrix Tour offers the most musically diverse and interesting line-up of talent to date.

Scheduled for 20 dates spread across a month, Experience Hendrix 2014 will be headlined by Chicago blues legend Buddy Guy, a phenomenal guitarist in his own right that influenced, and in turn was influenced by Jimi. Joining Guy are Experience Hendrix Tour veterans like Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and roots-rockers Cesar Rosas and David Hidalgo of Los Lobos. The tour also includes some familiar faces in the form of Texas roots 'n' blues guitarists Doyle Bramhall II and Eric Johnson, Mato Nanji of Indigenous, and fiery young fretburner Ana Popovic.

Experience Hendrix 2014 will also feature some odd but interesting talents like heavy metal axe-wielder Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne & Black Label Society), Dweezil Zappa (son of late rock icon Frank), and funk legend Bootsy Collins (Funkadelic, etc). Longtime Hendrix friend and bandmate Billy Cox will form one-half of the rhythm section backing up this all-star roster of six-string talent along with former Steve Ray Vaughan Double Trouble drummer Chris Layton. The Experience Hendrix Tour offers a rare opportunity to see such a great wealth of talent on stage together, so check out the list of show dates below and start making plans! Do you guys even remember where Jimi is from?…….last year’s dates, this year’s dates…..not even a mention of Seattle, Wa. or any other West Coast city for that matter. The only thing you seem to have right is hiring Chris Layton to team up with Billy Cox. So, I guess you snub his home town long enough, then most people will just forget where he was born. Just more revisionist History…We see a lot of shows in the NW and guess what…almost every band we see pays tribute to Hendrix when they play in Seattle. Maybe you guys could catch a clue from that. Even during a Tubes show last weekend, they played a riff from Voodoo Chile. The Tubes only play a few gigs per year now, but they know who is important in Seattle still, as does every other performer in America. If you announced a Seattle date it would sell out in two hours. Just sayin’.
