My apologies to our Canadian readers, as I meant to get to this a couple of weeks ago; the Toronto Blues Society has announced its nominees for the organization's 16th annual Maple Blues Awards, which recognizes excellence and achievement in blues and roots music. Voting has already started for this year and it open to any Canadian citizen with a valid email address. The Maple Blues Awards honors nominees in sixteen categories, from individual instrumental talents to awards for artists and recordings.
This year's Maple Blues Award nominees as "Entertainer of the Year" features a talented batch of performers, including popular Canadian blues band MonkeyJunk, singer Shakura S'Aida, and guitarist Steve Strongman, who has also been nominated in the "Electric Act of the Year" and "Recording of the Year" categories, the latter for his recent album A Natural Fact. S'Aida is also the recipient of multiple nominations, including "Female Vocalist of the Year" and "Recording of the Year" for her 2012 Electro-Fi Records album Time.
Many other talented artists also received an award nod; for more details, refer to our complete list of Maple Blues Awards 2013 nominees.
