Blues-rock guitarist Elvin Bishop is a bona-fide legend with little left to prove. Over the course of a lengthy career that began back in the mid-1960s, Bishop's resume includes his influential tenure as a founding member of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and a successful solo career that has veered from the blues to Southern rock chart-toppers and back to blues again. Over the years, the talented fretburner has shared the stage with fellow legends like B.B. King, Eric Clapton, and John Lee Hooker.
Bishop continues to rock the house in his fifth decade of performing, his latest studio album - 2010's Red Dog Speaks - and the live set Raisin' Hell Revue earning the guitarist critical accolades and some of the largest audiences of his career. As shown by the recently-released That's My Thing DVD, his first video release, Bishop still brings it on stage. Documenting a sold-out show from December 17, 2011 at Club Fox in Redwood City, California That's My Thing offers up 18 red-hot performances by Bishop and his crackerjack band, which includes guitarist Bob Welsh (who has also played with Nick Moss and Rick Estrin, among others), bassist Ruth Davies (Maria Muldaur, John Lee Hooker), and saxophonist Ed Earley (John Nemeth).
Bishop's That's My Thing draws material from across the guitarist's storied career, including blues and roots-rockers like "Travelin' Shows," "Stealin' Watermelons," "Booty Bumpin'," and more. The DVD also includes an in-depth interview with Bishop recorded at Hog Heaven Studio, the legendary bluesman recounting his career from Chicago to today.
