Jimi Hendrix's South Saturn DeltaSony Legacy Recordings has announced an April 12th, 2010 release date for their upgraded reissue of South Saturn Delta, a 15-track compilation of Jimi Hendrix rarities that was originally released in 1997. Aside from freshly re-mastered sound, the album features material from across the guitarist's handful of bands, from both incarnations of the Jimi Hendrix Experience to Gypsy Sun and Rainbows and the acclaimed Band of Gypsys with Billy Cox and Buddy Miles.

South Saturn Delta includes early renditions and alternative versions of classic Hendrix tracks like "Sweet Angel (Angel)," "All Along The Watchtower," and "Little Wing," as well as material from the rare War Heroes and Rainbow Bridge Concert albums like "Look Over Yonder." The South Saturn Delta reissue will be released on both compact disc and 12" vinyl, and includes a 24-page booklet with rare photos and other Jimi coolness.

Also scheduled for April 12th release is Jimi Hendrix: Band of Gypsys (Live At Fillmore East), a full-length DVD that features the only known film footage from the historic 1970 performances, including B&W video of Hendrix and crew blasting through songs like "Machine Gun," "Them Changes," "Stepping Stone," "Foxey Lady," and others. The DVD also includes an 83-minute documentary on the impact that Hendrix and Band of Gypsys had on hard rock, blues, R&B, and funk music, featuring old interview footage with Hendrix, Billy Cox, Mitch Mitchell, and Noel Redding as well as newer interviews with Vernon Reid of Living Colour, Slash, Lenny Kravitz, and long-time Hendrix engineer Eddie Kramer. The DVD also sports brand spankin' new stereo and 5.1 remixes by Kramer.
