Blues guitar legend Riley B. "B.B." King was born this day in 1925 in Indianola, Mississippi. One of a handful of the most influential bluesmen of the 20th century, King continues to tour frequently and record prolifically.
It's been some kind of year for King. His 2008 album, One Kind Favor, earned the guitarist oodles of acclaim (and more than a few awards). The B.B. King Museum and Interpretive Center opened in his hometown of Indianola last September, and recently celebrated its first anniversary. Some 30,000 visitors have visited the King Museum since its opening.
You'd think that King would be content to rest on his laurels and, well, just take some time off. The 84-year-old blues legend has his tour schedule plotted out into early 2010, so while you take a look at the list below of King appearances and consider where you'd like to witness the talented guitarist perform live, join us in wishing B.B. King a very happy birthday!
