Best Blues Albums of 2008
The Reverend has listened to a heck of a lot of blues during his first year as your humble About.com Blues Guide. Delta blues, Chicago blues, New Orleans blues, blues-rock, guitar blues, piano blues…just about every shade of blue under the sun. After much thought and deliberation, a few bottles of beer, a plate of cheese nachos, and a marathon six-hour Muddy Waters/Howlin' Wolf CD listening session, I have chosen the dozen best blues albums of 2008. These are the ones that you have to have in your collection; who made the final cut?

Keith:
Thanks for the blog. For those of us with a full life (jobs, kids, etc.), it’s nice to have someone to point out blues music I might have missed.
Thank you for the list, but surely there were more than two women who shone in 2008?
Rhetta- Check out Eden Brent’s “Mississippi Number One” on Yellow Dog Records. Nominated for four Blues Music Awards: Acoustic Album of the Year, Acoustic Artist of the Year, Best New Artist and best Piano player.
