Blues Images 2009 Blues Artwork Calendar
I know that your corner bookstore has slashed the prices of their 2009 calendars to 1/2 price or less, but is anything that they have to offer going to scratch the blues itch that you know you have? Yeah, I didn't think so….
Luckily, the folks at Blues Images have the cure for what ails ya! The company's 2009 Blues Artwork Calendar features a nifty dozen vintage blues images from the 1920s, reproductions of advertisements for 78rpm records by folks like Blind Blake, Kokomo Arnold, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Ida Cox, Charley Patton, and others, many including rare photos of these blues artists.
For the $20 cost of the calendar (plus shipping), you also receive a very cool compilation CD that includes songs by all twelve of the artists featured on the monthly calendar pages, as well as six "bonus" tracks from Blind Blake, Tommy Johnson, Ben Curry, and the Paramount All Stars. The songs have all been newly remastered from the best original 78rpm record copies that have been found. Unlike many so-called "free" CDs that a lot of publications offer, this one includes full artwork, including a tray card and CD booklet. That's a deal that you can't beat with a stick!
Check out the Blues Images website for more details on the 2009 calendar, blues t-shirts, posters, and other CDs of early-era blues songs.
