Bud, Bourbon & Blues Fest in Athens

Wednesday November 12, 2008

Blues guitarist Bob MargolinSure, it's only Wednesday, but it's never too late to begin making plans for the weekend…got Friday on my mind, and all of that. If you're anywhere in Georgia this coming weekend, get thee hence to Athens for the First Annual Bud, Bourbon & Blues Fest. The festival will be held at The Melting Point in Athens, Georgia from 2:30 PM until midnight, and music will be performed on two separate stages.

Legendary blues guitarist "Steady Rollin'" Bob Margolin, and Bonerama from New Orleans will be headlining the event, which will also feature performances from several local and regional artists, including Diane Durrett, Rick Fowler, Blues Affliction, Mad Whiskey Grin, Marion Montgomery, The Cazanovas, Big C & AJ (featuring Clarence Cameron), The Healers, and Paul Lombard.

Any Bonerama performance is a party waiting to happen, the band led by its four-trombone frontline playing vintage New Orleans funk, as well as providing unique Crescent City flavor to songs ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Led Zeppelin.

Margolin's credentials are as deep as they are impressive. Hand-picked by Chicago blues legend Muddy Waters to bring his guitar skills to Waters' band, in the years since Margolin has performed and/or recorded with artists like B.B. King, Dr. John, Etta James, Taj Mahal, Stevie Ray Vaughan, James Cotton, Nappy Brown, and Pinetop Perkins, among others.

Check out The Melting Point website for ticket availability and further details on the First Annual Bud, Bourbon & Blues Fest.
