The Story of the Yardbirds DVD Preview

Wednesday October 22, 2008

The Story of the Yardbirds DVDThe Yardbirds remain one of the most beloved and enduring of the 1960s-era British blues-rock bands. Aside from spawning three great guitarists in the talented Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page, the band's groundbreaking creative legacy has influenced at least a couple generations of blues and blues-rock artists.

On November 11, 2008 Music Video Distributors will be releasing The Story of the Yardbirds DVD. The 60-minute-plus disc covers the band from 1963 through its 1968 break-up and includes interviews with band members and friends as well as behind-the-scenes footage of this essential band. The Story of the Yardbirds includes rare 1964 concert footage with Clapton and the band performing "Louise" and "I Wish You Would," along with plenty of video of Beck and Page. Among the other Yardbirds songs documented on the DVD are performances of such classics as "Over, Under, Sideways, Down," "Shapes of Things," and "Heart Full of Soul."

The Story of the Yardbirds DVD also includes bonus footage of a young Jimmy Page playing guitar on German TV, recorded and filmed live in March 1967. Interest in the Yardbirds and the band's immense contributions to the blues-rock genre has remained steady throughout almost five decades, and this DVD will allow fans to glimpse another chapter of the Yardbirds' storied history.
