Goodbye To Rick Wright....
Pink Floyd keyboardist Rick Wright, a founding member of the classic rock band, died yesterday at the age of 65 from cancer. Although Pink Floyd is best-known for its prog-rock inspired soundscapes and early psychedelic influences, in the beginning the band played a mix of American rhythm and blues typical of mid-1960s British rock bands.
Although the band's connection to blues music is tenuous at best, Pink Floyd was named in honor of two obscure blues artists – Pink Anderson and Floyd Council – of which original frontman Syd Barrett was particularly fond.
