The guitar that Sonny plays in the movie is the first electric guitar seen by people in 1950. The plot points out that Sonny, a radioman in WWII, built it himself. It was basically ‘a neck screwed to a plank with strange exposed wires’.
The guitar used in the film was crafted by acclaimed luthier Ted Crocker. To learn more about the Honey Dripper guitar and Mr Crocker’s other unique instruments visit http://TedCrocker.com
