Associated Press reports that blues legend B.B. King has purchased the historic Club Ebony in his hometown of Indianola, Mississippi. Over the past 45 years, the famous Delta juke joint has hosted performances from folks like King, Count Basie, Ike Turner, Ray Charles, Howlin' Wolf and James Brown, among many others.

Mary Shepard has owned the club for the past 30 years, and says that she sold Club Ebony to King in order to relax and spend more time with her family, according to the AP report. Located in the heart of Mississippi Delta blues country, King started his career by playing for tips on the street corners of Indianola, and every year Club Ebony has held a B.B. King Homecoming show in June.
